Double Tangerine Gem Spanish Poppy Blooming Flower

Papaver- Spanish Poppy

This little gem is at home in alpine gardens or any sunny well drained situation. Here in Vermont they flower off and on all summer long. I don't know how they perform everywhere, but I suspect quite well. They aren't truly hardy all the way up here, but some make it, and they can reseed as well. The tangerine orange is a bit more harmonious than some shades. For us they will be in flower one day and not the next, randomly changing the color scheme in our front bed. Unassuming when out of flower I always appreciate their surprise appearance. An all around likable plant that deserves a spot in any garden.
