We trialed the New Millennium series on our farm in 2018, and they may be our favorite delphinium to date. Even in their first year, New Millennium grew rapidly, and produced huge dramatic spikes. They are hand pollinated and bred with care in New Zealand, and that dedication shows.
Million Dollar is new to me, and is a shorter but equally lovely double delphinium, in the same size range as the familiar 'Magic Fountains.' I hate dwarf plants, but this is still of cutting size, and some of you may not enjoy the 5-6' foot spikes of other varieties.
Delphinium plants will flower their first year, and tend to happiest in cooler climates. When flowering is complete, cut back to the ground to encourage regrowth. Here in Vermont we easily get 3 flushes of bloom each summer from our Delphinium. A quintessential cut flower.
Grown in 2 quart band pot. Cut to the ground after flower for regrowth and rebloom this season. Don't allow them to go to seed if you want more blooms this year.
